Betty Seaman Rajtik, 87, of Chambersburg, passed away on July 30, 2022 at Penn Hall Memory Care House in Chambersburg. Born September 28, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late G. Clayton and Florence (LaRouche) Seaman. Betty was a 1952 graduate of the George Washington High School in San Francisco, CA and a 1956 graduate of the Indiana State Teachers College in Indiana, PA. She was a vocal music teacher in Huntingdon County and with the Chambersburg Area School District prior to her retirement. After retiring from teaching she volunteered at the Chambersburg Hospital and at the Chambersburg Welcome Center. Betty was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Chambersburg and a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Martha Custis Chapter #342, Order of Eastern Star. She also held membership in the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees; was a past member of Alpha Delta Kappa sorority (Rho Chapter); a past member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association and the Music Educators National Conference. Betty enjoyed music, traveling, and was devoted to her family. Her husband, John Rajtik, whom she married in 1956, preceded her in death on June 16, 2018.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Motichka of Chambersburg, Linda (Mike) Shade of St. Thomas, and David (Pam) Rajtik of Chambersburg; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 4, 2022 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Pastor Ruth Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 – 10:45 AM on Thursday at the funeral home. Members of Martha Custis Chapter #342, Order of Eastern Star will conduct a brief service at 10:45 AM.
