Betty L. Woods, 89, a guest at Manor Care Health Services, and formerly of High Avenue, Chambersburg died on Sunday December 25, 2011. Born February 1, 1922 in Chambersburg she was the daughter of the late Thelma Betz Cormany, Lindsay Dean McClure and step-daughter of the late Lee M. Cormany.

A homemaker most of her life, Betty was a 1940 graduate of the former Chambersbug High School. She was a life-long member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church, Chambersburg. Betty tremendously enjoyed spending time with her friends, her Bridge Club, vacations, flower gardening, her dogs, social clubs and dining out. She had been active in the Franklin County Republican Committee, and was a member of the Burt J Asper Post 46 American Legion Auxillary, Falling Spring Chapter of AARP, Elks Club and Loyal Order of Moose #842.

Betty is survived by her loving husband, Hugh W. Woods, Jr., three sons; Gary L. and wife Rose, Hugh W. III and wife Margaret, and Jeffrey L. all of Chambersburg; two grandsons, Gary L. Woods, Jr and wife Linda of Dalzell, SC and Cory L. Woods and wife Gina of Chambersburg; two great-grandaughters; one great-grandson; three step-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; five step great-grandchildren; a niece; and four nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 28, 2011 at 11:30 AM in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd. Chambersburg, PA 17202. Pastor Suzanne Elliott will officiate. Interment will follow at Norland Cemetery. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
