Beulah A. C ole, age 99, a resident of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 19, 2016. Born in Harlan, IA on January 3, 1917, she was a farmer’s daughter, she loved the outdoors. She joined the 4-H and raised prize winning short-horn beef, which she showed at the Harlan Co. fair. She won many blue ribbons and trophies, which she has to this day. Bilingual, Beulah was fluent in speaking Dane and English.
A self-taught and gifted musician, she loved music, playing the button and piano key accordions and the string guitar and singing on a local radio station. Her father called square dances and she would play her instruments. With only an eighth grade education, Mrs. Cole read books, and would keep a dictionary nearby to look up words that she didn’t know the meaning to. She also enjoyed writing poems and short stories.
As a farmer’s wife, Mrs. Cole work tirelessly from dawn to dusk. Most recently, her hobbies include the Three Springs Senior Center, composing the monthly newsletter and riding in CART, which she calls, “Angels on Wheels”.
Funeral services will be private and there will be no viewing. Interment will be in Fair Ridge Cemetery, Shade Gap, PA. Arrangements are entrusted to the Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, Dry Run, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in her name to the Woodland Retirement Center, 18889 Croghan Pike, Orbisonia, PA 17243 or to 365 Hospice, 100 Oakwood Ave, State College, PA 16803.
