Beulah Brant Mahon, 101, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Friday, May 5, 2023 at Magnolias of Chambersburg where she was resident for two years. Born June, 21, 1921 at home in Laidig, PA she was the daughter of the late L. Dallas and Sara (Laidig) Brant.
She was a graduate of Houstontown High School with the Class of 1939. Beulah was initially employed as a waitress at Penn Hall Junior College and Preparatory School. She later joined the civil service and was then employed secretary at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, for many years retiring in 1980. She was a member of the King Street United Brethren Church where she was a long-time member of the Mustard Seed Class, later the Buds of Promise Class, and the Women’s Missionary Society. She was also a member of Farm Woman’s Group #7, Hamilton Ruritan Club #1646, and NARF Chapter #1063. Beulah loved flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking every Saturday, traveling with her late husband, visiting her daughter and friends in Washington, DC, and working on word searches and jigsaw puzzles.
Beulah is survived by her daughter Donna Sterner and her husband Kenneth of Chambersburg; a brother, Dean L. Brant and his wife Faye of McConnellsburg, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two step-grandchildren, Mrs. Carla Urso and her husband Michael Urso and great-granddaughters Sydney and Anna all of York, SC and Mr. David Sterner of Chambersburg. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Smithy Mahon who passed away December 22, 1992 and three siblings, George Brant, Robert Brant, and Vera Black.
Services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 11, 2023 in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Rev. Ronald Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Thursday afternoon in the funeral home.
Flowers are welcomed as Beulah loved enjoying her flower garden, but memorial contributions may also be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
