Blanche Carey

Blanche G. Herdman Carey, age 92, of Chambersburg, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 27, 2018. Born February 13, 1926, in Johnstown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Raymond L. and Olive Peppler Herdman.
Mrs. Carey worked as a seamstress at the former Stanley Company for 20 years, retiring in 1985. She was also her families’ beautician. She was a member of the Open Door Church. She enjoyed reading the Bible, crossword puzzle, word search, and in her younger days, she enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband of 60 years.
Surviving are three children, Charles Carey, Jr. (wife Rhonda) of Waynesboro, PA, John Carey of Chambersburg, PA, and Sonja Lawson (husband Douglas) of West Virginia; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Dustin, John Jr., Jason, Nathan, Ben, and Karen; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Tuck” Carey, Sr. and two sisters, Thelma and Betty.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at 10 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Carl McKee will officiate. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 30 from 7 – 9 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2595 Interstate Dr, Ste. 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
