Blanche D. Thompson Mock, 94, of Chambersburg, passed away Sunday morning, November 7, 2021 at Pro-medica (formerly ManorCare) in Chambersburg. Prior to entering the nursing home she had resided for three years at Providence Place in Chambersburg and for the preceding seven years enjoyed residing with her daughter and family at their home when her health did not permit her to live on her own. Born April 10, 1927 in Bando, PA, she was a daughter of the late Conrad and Bertha Felton Lape. Mrs. Mock attended the Somerset High School. Early in her life she had been employed at Palmer’s On The Square, Pet-Ritz, and Dairy Maid in Chambersburg. She retired in 1981 from Park Avenue Pharmacy in Chambersburg where she had worked for 10 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and its Alda Bower Sunday School Class. She volunteered for 15 years at the Chambersburg Hospital. She loved to travel, especially to the beach. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, church activities, and she loved car rides at sunset time.
She is survived by her daughter, Vanessa R. Stepler and husband Jeffrey Stepler, Sr. of Chambersburg; her grandson, Christopher R. Thompson and wife Hilari; two great-grandchildren, Kaylyhn and Skylyhn; and her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Thompson of Chambersburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Dean E. Thompson, Sr. in 1981; her second husband, James Mock in 2013; her son, Dean E. Thompson, Jr in 2020.; and seven siblings, Hazel, Irene, Ray, Clarence, George, Marie, and Melvin.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, November 12, 2021 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Dianne B. Salter and Mrs. Gail Vaughn will officiate. Interment will follow at Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until services begin at 1:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
