Blanche L. Umbrell, age 96, of Waynesboro, PA and formerly of Chambersburg, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017. Born October 29, 1920, in Waterfall, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Emma Reeder Barnett.
Mrs. Umbrell was a homemaker most of her adult life, she enjoyed caring for her family and friends. She did work for a number of years in the Sunnyway Bakery. A devoted Christian and prayer warrior, Mrs. Umbrell read her Bible daily and prayed for everyone. She was a member of The Open Door Church and the Jolly 60’s. She enjoyed attending the Senior Center in Waynesboro. She will be missed by her many friends of all ages and for her apple pies and homemade cinnamon buns.
Surviving are two sons, Larry Umbrell (wife Linda) of Waynesboro, PA and Donald Umbrell (wife Wilma) of Spring Run, PA; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her granddog, Wally. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pearl “Tucker” Umbrell on April 30, 1986 and eight siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at 1 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Mike Sanders and Pastor Carl McKee will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in her name to the Jolly 60’s (A senior fellowship group) at The Open Door Church, 600 Miller St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
