Bonnie Donley

Bonnie M. Donley, 78, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Thursday evening, August 1, 2013 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born June 16, 1935 in Harrisonburg, VA, she was a daughter of the late Garnet and Lillian Cootes Sleighter. Early in her life, Bonnie was employed at the former Tracy Fashions and the Stanley Company. She was last employed at Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion. She was an avid reader. Her husband, Robert L. Donley, whom she married September 19, 1953, preceded her in death in March of 1994.

She is survived by five children, Shirley Hensley and husband Robert of St. Thomas, Mitzi Holtry and husband Paul of Shippensburg, Robin Despres and husband Scott of Chambersburg, Tommy Donley of Chambersburg, and Dan Donley of Chambersburg; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She is also survived by two brothers, Charles Sleighter of Chambersburg and Garnet “Sonny” Sleighter, Jr. of San Antonio, TX, a sister, Linda Funk of Chambersburg; two half-brothers, Dwight and Damon Sleighter; and her brother-in-law, Gerald Donley of St. Clairsville, OH.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 5, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Paul B. Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00-11:00 AM Monday at the funeral home.
