Bonnie J. Johns, age 76, of Greencastle, PA, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. Born in Shippensburg, PA on September 9, 1940, she was the daughter of the late David and Ruth Daugherty Hostetter.
Bonnie was a 1957 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School. She had worked as a bank teller at F&M Bank for a number of years, and then as church secretary at King Street Church, where she later retired. Active at King Street, Bonnie was a member of the New Life Sunday School Class; she also was an organist and pianist at the church. Bonnie enjoyed music, social networking, and computers.
Surviving is her beloved husband of 52 years, Gary W. Johns, whom she married on June 28, 1964; two children, Alan R. Johns (wife Kim) of Greencastle, PA and Karen J. Gayman (husband Rodney) of Chambersburg, PA; four grandchildren, Renee and Dana Johns and Jacob and Caleb Gayman; and three siblings, Kay Yaukey (husband Ordean) of Mont Alto, PA, Wanda Forrester (husband Gerald) of Scotland, PA, and David Hostetter (wife Virginia) of Ebensburg, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 10 AM at King Street Church, 162 East King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201, where Pastors Jody Bowser and Paul Baker will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 3, 2017, from 6 – 9 PM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
