Brian Lee Umbrell, age 66, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Percy and Bertha May Schuchman Umbrell.
Brian worked for Sears for 22 years and then at Kmart in Chambersburg until it closed in 2019. He was also the owner and operator of Hancock TV repair shop in Chambersburg for over 20years. Brian was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church and a life member of Franklin Fire Company, both in Chambersburg. Brian was an amateur radio operator, call number-W3PDW and member of the Antietam Radio Association, where he served as the current President. He was also an extra class accredited volunteer examiner who could administer Amateur Radio License examinations. Brian was a trained emergency communicator, who volunteered for Emergency Communications, Washington County, MD and Emergency Communications for Franklin Co. Emergency Communications, and Races for the JFK run. Brian enjoyed hiking, the outdoors, and was a dedicated Chicago Cubs Fan.
Brian is survived by his sister, Debra Umbrell Tressler (husband James) of Chambersburg, PA, his last living Aunt, Martha Schuchman Umbrell and numerous cousins
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 1 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Jane Nicholson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 4, from 6 -9 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Friday. Interment will be in Norland Cemetery.
