Bruce Gipe

Bruce Levi Gipe, 83, of Spring Run, PA, went home to be with the Lord on his birthday, Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at his home. Born April 23, 1930 in Willow Hill, he was a son of the late Alvie D. and Mary E. Hockenberry Gipe. A US Army veteran, Bruce retired in 1980 after 30 years at Letterkenny Army Depot. He was a life member of McCartney Post 232 American Legion and was a member of the Spring Run United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His wife, Genevieve Coons Gipe, whom he married June 13, 1950, preceded him in death on December 7, 2003.

He is survived by his son, Randy E. Gipe and wife Janice; two grandchildren, Bridget Simpson and husband Dan and Shane Gipe; and two great-grandchildren, Blake and Isabella Simpson, all of Spring Run; and three sisters, Peg McCurdy and husband Don of Fannettsburg, Fanny Kauffman and husband David of St. Thomas, and Deb Danner of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Art Gipe and Sonny Gipe and a sister, Lulabelle Gamble.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, 18875 Main Street, Dry Run, PA. Interment will follow at Upper Path Valley Cemetery, where Military Honors will be provided by members of the James W. McCartney, Post 232 Color Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
