Bruce Yorgey

December 16, 1929 — August 10, 2011

Bruce O. Yorgey, age 81, of Fayetteville, went Home to be with his Savior at Hershey Medical Center on Wednesday, August 10, 2011. Born the youngest of five children on December 16, 1929, he was a son of the late John E. and Ruth A. Reber Yorgey.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Finch Yorgey; three children, Cheryl L. Anderson (and husband, Bruce) of Fayetteville, Kirk W. Yorgey (and wife, Lisa) of Cape Coral, FL, and Sandra K. Dependahl (and husband, Richard) of Perry Hall, MD; two brothers, John, of Reading, and James, of Fayetteville; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Wallace Yorgey, his sister, Eleanor Koch, and his brother, Richard.

After graduating from Reading High School in 1947, Bruce attended Emmaus Bible School in Chicago, IL. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1954. Following his military service, he worked in the family’s dry-cleaning business in both the Lancaster and Reading areas. Bruce loved the Lord Jesus Christ, his Savior. He served for many years as an elder at Monterey Chapel, Lancaster County. Until his death he served as an elder at Greenwood Hills Assembly in Fayetteville, PA. He had great joy in sharing his love for the Lord with all whom he came in contact.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 in the chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road Chambersburg, with Mr. Keith Keyser officiating. Interment will follow in Quincy Cemetery. There will be no viewing; however the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9 AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Greenwood Hills Assembly, 7062 Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville, PA 17222.
