C. Reed Caldwell, 79, of Fort Loudon, and formerly of Orrstown, PA, passed away Tuesday evening, May 15, 2018 at Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 12, 1939 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late L. Reed and Jean Wagner Caldwell. Reed was a 1957 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School. A self-employed plumber for more than 30 years he owned and operated Caldwell’s Plumbing and Heating. He was a life member of the Goodwill Steam Fire Engine and Hose Company #3 in Chambersburg, Orrstown Lodge #262 F&AM, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Valley Forest #145 and their clown unit, Harrisburg Consistory, and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge in Upper Strasburg and Orrstown. He was a former First Aid instructor and was a life member of the Home Association of the Marine Corps League in Chambersburg, and a social member of Wesley Yeager Post 606 American Legion in Ft. Loudon, Harry Lackhove Post 517 American Legion in Mercersburg, and Hume-McNeil-Byers AmVets Post 224 in Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Loretta Miller Caldwell; six children, B. Reed Caldwell (Susan) of Orrstown, Timothy L. Caldwell (Kimberly) of Shippensburg, James L. Caldwell (Cindy) of Orrstown, Susan R. Kochenour (Chris) of Shippensburg, John G. Caldwell of Ft. Loudon, and William H. Caldwell of Orrstown; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
