Calvin Chilcote

Calvin E. Chilcote, Sr., age 82, of Spring Run, PA, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born August 30, 1936, in Richvale, PA, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Mary Goshorn Chilcote.
Mr. Chilcote was a member of the Orbisonia High School class of 1957, where he had played for the football team. He worked for White and Wingate Sawmill, Yocum Aluminum Products, and the former James River Corporation for 33 years, retiring in 1999 as a machine operator. Mr. Chilcote had also served Fannett Township as a supervisor for many years. He enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State. He also enjoyed barbecuing chicken, including being part of the original group to cook chicken for the Path Valley Picnic, raising hogs, and butchering. Mr. Chilcote was a member of the Spring Run United Methodist Church, Fannett-Metal Fire Company, Path Valley Lions Club, American Legion Post 232, and the Fannett Township Rod and Gun Club.
Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Piper Chilcote; four children, Evelyn Boyer (husband Dave), Donna North (husband Jay), Mary Ann Yocum (husband Mark) and Calvin Chilcote, Jr. (wife Kim) all of Spring Run, PA; eight grandchildren, Amber Runk (Adam), David Boyer, Jr. (Megan), Lori Boggs (Brad), Paige Wright (Shane), Blake Yocum, Matthew and Bryce Chilcote, and Brandi Mellott (Chad); five great-grandchildren, Bennett and Ensley Runk, Addison Wright, Noah and Jayde Mellott, and four siblings, Emma Middaugh (Jesse), Ralph Chilcote (Norma), Darlene Wible and Russell Chilcote (Florence). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mae Kline, a brother, William Chilcote, a brother in law, Elwood Wible, and an infant brother.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at 10 AM at the Spring Run United Methodist Church, 16667 Main St, Spring Run, PA 17262, where Pastor Phil Foster, Rev. Marlin A. “Butch Neil, and Rev. Darwin Goshorn will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 12, 2018, from 6 – 8 PM at the Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, 18875 Main St., Dry Run, PA 17220 and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will follow at the Upper Path Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the above church at P.O.
