Calvin M. Gardner, 90, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Tuesday morning, December 27, 2016 at ManorCare Health Services. Born December 25, 1926 in Hummelstown, PA, he was a son of the late Clarence Lee and Frances Bush Gardner. Mr. Gardner was a graduate of the former Annville High School and served with the US Navy during WWII. He owned and operated the former C&G Sign Company and Outdoor Advertising in Chambersburg for many years and also owned and operated similar companies in Florida. He later purchased Falling Spring Meadows in Chambersburg and spent time working as a general contractor. He was a former member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and had belonged to numerous clubs and organizations in the Chambersburg area throughout his lifetime. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Kohler Gardner, on December 14, 2006.
He is survived by his daughter, Amy Gardner Brown of Chambersburg; his grandsons, Alec Jared Brown, Austin Garrett Brown, and Chris Matthew Gardner and wife Michelle; his granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Gassert and husband Greg; and his great-grandchildren, Sierra and Devon. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Calvin M. Gardner, II; his brother, Conard Lee Gardner; and his sister, Vivian Tice.
Services and interment will be private.
The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests contributions in his memory be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
