Carl Gipe

Carl S. Gipe, Jr., 72, formerly of Orbisonia, passed away Monday afternoon, March 30, 2015 at the Shippensburg Health Care Center. Born January 27, 1943 in Fannettsburg, he was a son of the late Carl S. Gipe, Sr. and Edna Shatzer. Carl served in the US Army Reserves from 1961-1967. He then served Active Duty from 1967 until his retirement in 1984. Following his retirement from the military he was self-employed as owner and operator of Carl Gipe Septic Tank Cleaning in Mercersburg. He was a member of the VFW Post in Orbisonia and his hobbies included hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his former wife, Evelyn Gipe of Mercersburg; two sons, Dale E. Gipe and wife Tina of Chambersburg and Brian S. Gipe of Mercersburg; a daughter, Dawn Mills of Carlisle; and three grandchildren, Derek, Stephanie, and Emily Gipe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-sister, Bertha Ford; and two half-brothers, Russell Gipe and Cecil Gipe.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, April 3, 2015 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Dennis Chisholm officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Upper Path Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
