Carl Peterson

Carl William “Chub” Peterson, 81, of Spring Run, PA, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 16, 2013 at his home. Born December 3, 1931 in Willow Hill, PA, he was a son of the late Harold William and Lydia Lorene Dunkle Peterson. Chub served with the US Army and was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg for 36 years, retiring in 1987. He then drove truck for Rosenberry Brothers for 13 years and was last employed driving for Curtis Yohn. Chub was baptized at the Spring Run United Methodist Church. He was a member of McCartney Post 232 American Legion and served on the Color Guard for over 30 years, with 20 years of perfect attendance at all Color Guard functions. He was a member of the Fannett Metal Fire Company and served with the Fannett Metal Fire Police for 45 years, holding the rank of Captain. His hobbies included hunting and butchering.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Fay E. O’Donnell Peterson, whom he married May 24, 1952; his son, Michael W. Peterson of Chambersburg; his daughter, Sharon E. Peppernick of Spring Run; and two most beloved grandsons, Billy and Matthew Peppernick. He is also survived by a brother, James Peterson and wife Sally; and five sisters, Linda (Mrs. Maurice) Sites, Jacqueline (Mrs. Gary) Morningstar, Lena (Mrs. Emory) McMullen, Helen Jean (Mrs. John) Atherton, and Janet (Mrs. George) Humbert. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald S. Peterson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, 18875 Main Street, Dry Run, PA with Rev. Marlin A. Neil officiating. Interment with military honors by members of the McCartney Post 232 American Legion Color Guard will follow at Upper Path Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday and from 10-11:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home.
