Carla Elizabeth Baltimore, 51, of Chambersburg, PA, died Sunday morning, March 30, 2014 in Chambersburg Hospital. Born January 16, 1963 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Leibert Myers Shatzer and Bennie Mayo Shatzer. Carla was a 1980 graduate of the James Buchanan High School and went on to receive a degree in Ornamental Nursery and Horticulture from Penn State University. She had been employed at the former Chambersburg Garden Center and then by the Chambersburg Mall where she cared for the indoor and outdoor vegetation. Carla was a Supervisor at Little Tykes in Shippensburg and for the past 16 years has driven a school bus for Meyers Bus Lines in Chambersburg. Carla loved plants and flowers of all varieties and enjoyed sharing her passion by setting up a sales stand at the Fall Fest in McConnellsburg, and at various festivities in the Chambersburg area. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Carla is survived by her husband, Tyrone “Ty” A. Baltimore, Sr., whom she married on December 29, 1982; two children, Sarah Elizabeth Holtry and husband Todd of Oakville, and Tyrone Adam Baltimore, Jr. and wife Tiffini of Chambersburg; six grandchildren, Andrew, Kierstin, Maggie, and Brody Holtry, Layla and Alexsys Baltimore; a brother, Glynn Walker and wife Sally of Edenville; and three sisters, Glynette Kepner (Randy) of Edenville and Minta Hessler of Chambersburg, and Charlotte Stowers and husband Robert of Williamsburg, VA. Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Witmer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 50 Ragged Edge Road, Chambersburg, PA with Bishop Bryan Fernelius officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM Friday, April 4, 2014 at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
