Carmine A. Gargano, age 86, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born December 11, 1928 in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of Alfred J. and Veronica Siwy Gargano.
Carmine was a 1946 graduate of Central High School in Bridgeport, CT. A U.S. Navy veteran, Carmine served honorably during the Korean Conflict. Prior to his service in the Navy, he served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He attended St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia where he earned his degree in Business Administration in 1978. Carmine worked in Data Processing for City Service Oil Company until his retirement after 22 years of service. He was a member of Corpus Chirsti Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards.
Carmine is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marie Sciarretta Gargano, whom he married on May 21, 1955; his sister, Veronica M. Gargano of New Haven, CT; and his aunt, Ellen Gargano of Bridgeport CT. In addition to his parents, Carmine is preceded in death by his step-mother, Josephine Gargano.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carmine’s name to Corpus Christi Catholic Church at the above address.
