Carol Piper Baker, 68, of Willow Hill, PA, passed away Thursday morning, December 29, 2016 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born May 23, 1948 in Dry Run, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Gladys Hampton Piper. Following graduation from the Fannett-Metal High School in 1966 she went to work at Grove Manufacturing. While working at Grove she attended night school at Edy’s School of Beauty in Chambersburg. She then opened Carol Baker’s Beauty Salon in Willow Hill, which she operated for more than 30 years. Carol also drove a school bus for the Fannett-Metal School District for a number of years. She was a member of the Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church in Spring Run and a member and Past President of the Path Valley Lioness Club. She enjoyed trips to Rehoboth Beach and attending Fannett-Metal sporting events. Her other hobbies included dancing, singing, NASCAR, trivia, and game shows. She will be missed by her pet Schnauzer, Mosey.
Carol is survived by her husband, Billy L. Baker, whom she married June 26, 1966; her son, Billy Baker and wife Tara; her daughter, Melissa Bannister and husband James, all of Willow Hill; five grandchildren, Cortney Bannister Killian, Justin Bannister, Walker Bannister, Bailey Doyle, and Benton Doyle; her brother, Bob Piper of Chambersburg; and two sisters, Lillian Walter of California and Nancy Bard of Chambersburg.
A memorial service to celebrate Carol’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church, Spring Run, PA. Rev. Dr. Meagan Boozer will officiate. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Wednesday at the church.
