Carol A. Cooper, 79, of Chambersburg, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021 at the Menno Haven Rehabilitation Center in Chambersburg. Born March 7, 1942 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Arthur C. and Evalyn (George) Miller.
A graduate of Shippensburg State College, where she earned her Bachelor’s in Education, Mrs. Cooper went on to be a teacher at the former J. Frank Faust Junior High School, where she taught English to 9th and 10th graders from 1966 to 1997. She was a long time member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Chambersburg, where she was the organist from 1958 to 2007. She also briefly played the organ at First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg. In addition to teaching and playing the organ, she enjoyed knitting and being with her family.
Surviving are her husband of 45 years, B. Richard Cooper, whom she married on January 31, 1976; one daughter, Pamela Long and husband Marty of Phoenixville, PA; two grandsons, Jack Long of Burlington, VT and Ryan Long of Phoenixville, PA; and one brother, Jon Miller and wife Connie of Boiling Springs, PA.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family, with Rev. Patricia Dickson presiding. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends contribute to their favorite charity and simply remember Carol as the gracious, friendly person that she was. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Chambersburg.
