Carol Grimes

Carol G. Grimes, age 63, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away in the Chambersburg Hospital on Tuesday, February 7, 2012. Born August 18, 1948 in Wells Tannery, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lester A. and Leona J. Seville Souders.

Carol worked in the restaurant industry most of her life, in both the Managerial and Chef capacities. She had worked at the Gateway restaurant and Breeze Manor both in Breezewood, PA and BG’s in Pittsburgh, PA and at the Holiday Inn, O’Reilly’s, Thomas’s, Hoover’s and retiring as a cook at Menno Haven in 1994 all in Chambersburg. Carol was a 1968 graduate of Forbes Road High School. A selfless and caring individual, Carol loved and touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with. Her compassion for others, led her to help with the Cold Weather Shelter and Community Garden in Chambersburg. She was active in other community projects, such as bake sales, block parties, and helping to raise money for numerous charities. She was a member of Overflow Ministries Church. She had a special passion for animals, especially cats. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, and telling jokes.

Surviving are her husband of 37 years, Wayne Grimes, whom she married on August 24, 1974; as sister, Helen Foreman of Well Tannery, and numerous nieces, nephews, and many great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 7 brothers, Preston “Sam”, Rankin “Bud”, Lee “Bub”, Gerald “Tom”, Carl “Short”, Dale “Whitey” Souders, and one stillborn brother.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 12:30 PM at Bard Hall in the Chambersburg Recreation Department, 235 S. Third St., Chambersburg, PA; where Pastor Doug Lehman of Overflow Ministries will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Cold Weather Shelter, 527 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
