Celia L. Lawson, age 85, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Friday evening, May 30, 2014 at home. Born February 21, 1929 in Greencastle, she was a daughter of the late Laban H. and Eleanor K. Brewbaker Stoner.
Mrs. Lawson was a 1947 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She was the Owner and Operator of Stoner’s Drive-In and Restaurant for 20 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Elks Club, Moose Lodge # 842, and the American Legion Post 46, all in Chambersburg. She enjoyed bingo, spending time with her grandchildren, working out at Results, playing cards, attending sporting events, and traveling to Florida.
Surviving is her husband of 65 years, Dennis W. Lawson, whom she married on August 28, 1948; five children, Denise Crawford (Geoffrey) of Chambersburg, PA, Eleanor Mayhugh (Rodney) of Chambersburg, PA, Sherry Fields (John) of Chambersburg, PA, Laban Lawson (Beth) of Chambersburg, PA, and Lori Lawson (Melissa) of Chambersburg, PA; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Esther Schwebel of Rehobeth Beach, DE, Jane Brindle (William) of Chambersburg, PA, and Nelle Mummert of Chambersburg, PA; and two brothers-in-law, Lewis Drawbaugh of Chambersburg, PA and Charles Keefer of McConnellsburg, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Drawbaugh and Anna Keefer, a brother and another sister in infancy, a grandson, Jason Dillow; and two brothers-in-law, Jim Schwebel and Glenn Mummert
Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Thursday, June 5, 2014 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Elder John Fields, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Grindstone Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends On Wednesday, June 4, 2014 from 6 – 8 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Thursday.
