Cesar Santamaria Ojeda

Cesar Augusto Santamaria Ojeda, 83, of Shippensburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg. Born April 30, 1934 in Callao, Peru, he was a son of the late Manuel and Paula Ojeda Santamaria.

Cesar was a skilled auto body craftsman until his retirement. He was a very active and dedicated member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg where he served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. He was a 4th Degree Knight at the Chambersburg Knights of Columbus and named Brother of the Year, an award he will receive posthumously.

Cesar was a man of faith, family, and dear friends. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Publia Bertha Ureta de Santamaria, whom he married on March 3, 1957; three children, Cesar Santamaria of Herndon, VA, Paula Tasevoli (Frank) of Long Beach, NY and Aida Santamaria of Shippensburg; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother; four sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave. Chambersburg, PA. Interment will follow the service at Corpus Christi Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday and from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church at the above address, to be used for relief in Puerto Rico.
