Charles R. Fickes, 81, of Chambersburg, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018, at Menno Haven. Born October 14, 1936 in Orrtanna, he was the son of Jess and Mary Grace McKenrick Fickes.
A US Army veteran, Charles served honorably during the Korean Conflict. He was employed at T.B. Woods in the shipping and receiving department and as an inspector until his retirement. Charles was a member of The Open Door Church and was active in the AWANA Ministry and the Bus Ministry. He enjoyed going to flea markets, having his morning Hardee’s and was an avid Penn State Football and Philadelphia Eagles fan.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Linda Fickes, whom he married on October 12, 1990; two children, Beverly Ann Stelma and husband Eugene of Chambersburg, and Brian Patrick Fickes and wife Stephanie of Greencastle; one step-daughter, Tina Roecklein and husband Alan of Brookeville, MD; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Barry Mull and wife Linda of Fayetteville; and his two best friends, Mark and Nancy Fegan of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Fickes, Gary Mull, and Robert Mull; and two sisters, Margie Poe and Loraine Mull.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 2, 2018, at The Open Door Church, 600 Miller St., Chambersburg, PA 17201. Rev. Mike Sanders will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Open Door Church at the above address. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
