Charles Gelsleichter

March 26, 1926 — October 21, 2018

Charles Howard Gelsleichter, age 92, of Orrtanna, PA and formerly of Silver Spring, MD, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at Manor Care in Chambersburg, PA. Born March 26, 1926, in Shavertown, PA, he was the son of the late Howard and Katherine Synder Gelsleichter.
Mr. Gelsleichter graduated high school in 1944. Early in life he worked with his father and his brother as a carpenter. Mr. Gelsleichter retired in 1994 as the building’s manager for GSA in Washington, D. C. He was a member of the Lutheran Faith, the Franklin County Art Alliance, Waynesboro Studio Club, and a former member of the Valley Art Association, Hagerstown, MD. He enjoyed watching the Washington Redskins and Nationals.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 43 years, Karen Ann Hoglund Gelsleichter whom he married June 21, 1975, a brother, Harold Gelsleichter (wife Juanita), a sister, Thelma Husband, and a brother-in-law, David E. Hoglund (wife Bonnie) of Eagan, MN and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Bean.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at 2 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA. There will be no visitation prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
