Charles Hainsey

Charles A. “Charlie” Hainsey, age 75, of Chambersburg, PA; passed away in his home on Sunday, February 19, 2012. Born on November 15, 1936 in Goshen, PA, Charlie was the son of the late Benjamin C. and Bertha Condon Hainsey.

A U.S. Air Force veteran, Charlie served his country honorably from 1954-1958. He worked as a supervisor for Pennsylvania electric for 35 years, retiring in 1994. An outdoorsman, Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He was also a life member of the NRA and an active member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church. One of Charlie’s real passions, was his volunteer work at both the St. Paul’s Lutheran Food bank and at Lutheran Social Services.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 54 years, Lynne Anderson Hainsey, whom he married on February 8, 1958; his loving children, Mark A. Hainsey (wife Heidi) of Lorton, VA and SueEllen Weyant of Fayetteville, PA; three cherished grandchildren, Britain and Ali Lynne Weyant and Jacob Adam Hainsey; and three siblings, Dorothy Kline, Jack Hainsey, and Mona Cunkle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Vera Thompson, Raymond Hainsey, and Marvin Hainsey.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 11 AM at the Otterbein United Methodist Church, 61 West Main St., Fayetteville, PA, with Rev. Mike Baumgardner officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from 6-9 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc. 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA and on Wednesday one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the ALS Clinic at Penn State Milton S Hershey Medical Center, 30 Hope Dr., Hershey, PA 17033 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the above named church and address.
