Charles M. Harter II, age 82, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away Friday morning, June 26, 2015 at Hershey Medical Center. Born July 26, 1932 in Wilkes Barre, PA, he was the son of the late Wilbur A. and Jean Reidy Harter.
Charles was a 1950 graduate of Berwick High School in Berwick, PA. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served honorably during the Korean Conflict. Following his service in the Navy, Charles earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Gettysburg College in 1959. Charles had an illustrious career in computer marketing and sales. He worked for Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) and other computer companies until his retirement in 2005. Charles was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Chambersburg. He was also a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, George Washington Lodge 143 F&AM in Chambersburg, and the Shriners.
Charles is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lynn Kyle Harter, whom he married on September 9, 1961; two daughters, Anne Pandolfi (husband Daniel) of Hagerstown MD, and Lisa Dionisio (husband Daniel) of Sandy Spring, MD; seven grandchildren, Emily, Joseph, Natalie, Charlie, Julia, Chase, and Chloe; and a sister, Sally Sargent of Yardley, PA. In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Strain.
A memorial service to honor Charles’ life will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 2695 Luther Dr, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Christopher Frye will officiate. A Masonic service will be conducted by the George Washington Lodge 143 F&AM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
