Charles William “Bill” Lynch, Sr., 74, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Sunday morning, December 4, 2022 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 30, 1948 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late Elmer Cleveland and Bessie Elizabeth Helm Lynch. Mr. Lynch retired from the former E.E. Mills and Sons in Chambersburg. He had previously worked at the H.J. Heinz Company and at T.B. Woods Sons, Inc. He was a member of the AmVets in Chambersburg and liked hunting, fishing, traveling, vegetable and flower gardening, and his dogs. He was a Dallas Cowboys fan and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Florence “Louise” Smith Lynch, whom he married May 28, 1966; three children, Charles W. “Bill” Lynch, Jr. and wife Stacey of Greencastle, Tressy S. Nozzi of Chambersburg; and Anthony B. Lynch and wife Amie McQuait Lynch of Chambersburg; fourteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers, Jack Lynch (Shirley), Thomas Lynch, Dave Lynch, and Jeff Lynch; and four sisters, Betty Lou Wetzel, Bonnie Poe (Elmer), Diane Massingill (Don), and Karen “Suz” Leader. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Lynch in 2012; a sister, Joyce Peters; two infant brothers; and his son-in-law, John Nozzi.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 12, 2022 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Deacon Richard Ramsey will officiate. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Sunday and from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Monday at the funeral home.
