Charles McClure

February 3, 1931 — October 20, 2018

Charles G. McClure, 87, of Fayetteville, PA, went home to be with the Lord on October 20, 2018. Born February 3, 1931 in Fayetteville, he was a son of the late James Clark and Margaret Heckman McClure. Glen served honorably in the US Army with the 25th Infantry Division, 27th Regiment Wolfhounds during combat in Korea. He was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Korean Service Medal. A carpenter by trade, he was a proud member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. Glen took great pride in his carpentry and enjoyed sharing his talents by helping many people in the local community and building multiple homes in the Fayetteville area. His love and compassion was his entire family and what he enjoyed most in life was spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Glen was a long standing member of the Fayetteville Church of God. His hobby was to work in the fields on his tractor and he also enjoyed hunting and attending Trojan football games. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Loretta Perry McClure; his son, Robert McClure and wife Jane of Fayetteville; his daughter, Tammy Cody and husband William of Fayetteville; two grandchildren, Scott McClure and wife Carrie of Hagerstown, MD and Nicole Lowe and husband Jeffrey of Miami, FL; and one great-granddaughter, Alexandra. Also surviving are siblings Annabelle Smetzer, Robert F. McClure and wife Chae, Margie Wile, and Lois Kramer and husband Donald as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Rosalie Stevens, Jean Powell, Mary Piper, and Dora Deardorf and a brother, James McClure, II.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Pastor Staci Geesaman will officiate. Interment with military honors by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday and from 10:00-11:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fayetteville Church of God, 5276 Treher Road, Fayetteville, PA 17222.
