Charles C. Metzgar, 86, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023 in Providence Place where he had resided the past few years. Born May 21, 1937 in Entriken, PA he was the son of the late Cloyd S. and Catherine L. (Coy) Metzgar.
He was employed as a computer programmer at Letterkenny Army Depot. Charlie also worked from home as a massage therapist for over 20 years. He was a member of VFW Post 1599 of Chambersburg, Chambersburg YMCA, Chambersburg Roadrunners, Franklin County Cyclists, and St. Thomas Sportsman Club where he volunteered at the funnel cake stand every year. Charlie was a fitness enthusiast spending a lot time at the YMCA and exercising. He enjoyed hunting, fishing with his grandson, riding his motorcycle, and taking care of his cats, as well as stray cats.
He is survived by his daughter, Kelley J. Martin and her husband Steve of Chambersburg, PA; a grandson Michael Martin; his life partner, Velva Morris of Chambersburg and her children, Dena Graham and her husband Robert and Dane Morris and his fiancé Brenda Seibert; a brother, Ellis E. Metzgar and his wife Beverly of Pulaski, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant son, Dennis C. Metzgar and two siblings, Janice Stodolski and Donald Metzgar.
Services will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 21, 2023 in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Chaplain Richard Ritenour officiating. Burial will follow in Mongul Cemetery, Southampton Township, PA.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday evening in the funeral home as well as one hour prior to the service Thursday morning in the funeral home.
