Our Heavenly Father welcomed Charles Robert (Bob) Mills into His warm embrace on Sunday, January 30, 2022 with the comforting words from Matthew 25:23 “well done, my good and faithful servant”. Although he was a man of few words and quiet spirit, he invested his Godly gifts daily by serving others in any capacity necessary. Those who had the opportunity to know him, saw the actions of his kind-hearted soul in everything that he did.
Bob, 81, was the son of the late Theron S. Mills and Sylva O. (Black) Shaw. He was a graduate of Steven’s Trade School, Lancaster where he became a skilled mason. Bob married his wife, Leota (Snyder) Mills, in April of 1964. They were an example of the purest kind of love for 57 years. They relocated from Waterfall, PA to Marion, PA where they built their life and family together for almost six decades. His biggest hope in life was to have a home, family, and the ability to provide for both. He more than succeeded with this aspiration, and became an inspiration to the family which he created.
The ability to serve is visible and woven throughout all aspects of his life. He faithfully served and volunteered with the Marion Volunteer Fire Company for over 50 years. He served in the Army Reserves in the 1960’s and was then employed at Mack Truck for 36 years, retiring in 2000. A member of King Street Church and its Disciples Sunday school class, his quiet servanthood was always led by faith. His hobbies included playing golf and hunting.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Pamela Kay (Mills) Zemaitis of New Cumberland, PA and Stacy Jo (Mills) Henson and husband Chris of Chambersburg; grandsons Alexander Charles Zemaitis of Brooklyn, NY and Colton Kauffman of Chambersburg, PA; granddaughter Rebecca Leigh Zemaitis of Philadelphia; step-grandchildren Brianna Baldwin of Winchester, VA and Tyler Henson of Marion; and step-great-grandchildren Ayden Henson and Aryzona Baldwin of Winchester, VA. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Frey of St. Augustine, FL; brother Eldon Mills of Everett, PA; step-sister Sandy Miller of Bedford, PA; special aunt Leta Feight of Waterfall, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 4, 2022 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Ronald Cook and Rev. Lester Stine will officiate. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 9:00 – 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home.
