Charles Schroeder

June 10, 1943 — May 25, 2018

Charles “Chuck” White Schroeder, 74, of Chambersburg, died on Friday, May 25, 2018. Born on June 10, 1943 in York, PA, he was a son of the late Robert Kraus and Gloria (White) Schroeder.

Chuck graduated from York Suburban High School in 1961 and the West Chester State College in 1965. Immediately following college, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he completed officer candidate school, obtained the rank of Captain, and served his country in the Vietnam War. After short periods teaching high school and serving as a police officer in York, he moved to Chambersburg, where he spent 35 years as a life insurance agent and financial planner for the Strickler Agency and other entities. He obtained his CLU and ChFC professional designations and retired from the Strickler Agency. He was a longtime member of the Chambersburg Country Club, the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, the Rotary Club of Chambersburg and the Chambersburg YMCA, where he served on the Board of Directors for many years.

Chuck will be remembered for his keen intellect, extreme punctuality, generosity and loyalty to his family and friends. He was a voracious reader who loved to play golf and, earlier in his life, tennis.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife of over 20 years, Arsenia “Seniang” Soriano Schroeder, whom he married on July 10, 1997; two sons, Matthew (Stacy) Schroeder of Mechanicsburg and Theodore (Theresa) Schroeder of Pittsburgh; his twin brother Robert (Jan) Schroeder of Flemington, New Jersey; brothers, Steven (Darlene) Schroeder of Flower Mound, Texas and Scott (Marla) Schroeder of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; step-children Pamela (James) Cramer of New Jersey, Patrick (Beth) Fair of New Jersey, and Micah (Lisa) Fair of Chambersburg. He will also be greatly loved and missed by his five grandchildren and ten step-grandchildren.

A memorial service and interment will be held on June 9, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Prospect Hill Cemetery in York, Pennsylvania, with the Rev. John J. Wenzke presiding. Condolences and memories may be shared on his Book of Memories page at geiselfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Chuck’s memory are encouraged to make a donation to the Chambersburg YMCA, 570 E. McKinley St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
