Charles Sweitzer

Charles Jay Sweitzer, 74, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 18, 2014 at his home. Born July 29, 1940 in York, PA, he was a son of the late Charles Jacob and Alice Lovella Rosenzweig Sweitzer. He served in the US Army and later retired from Letterkenny Army Depot. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church where he served as an Eucharistic Minister and was active on the Polka Committee. He was also a member of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, all in Chambersburg, and Detrich-Brechbill Post 612 American Legion in St. Thomas.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Mora Sweitzer, whom he married January 20, 1962; two sons, David Sweitzer and wife Donna of Harrisburg, PA and Darren Sweitzer of Security, CO; five grandchildren; and a sister, Frances Eck of York, PA.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue Chambersburg, PA 17201. Very Rev. Luis Rodriguez, V.F. will officiate. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church at the aforementioned address.
