Charles Vanucci

Charles O. Vanucci, 81, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away Wednesday evening, February 21, 2018 at his home. Born July 17, 1936 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Deno and Victoria Bonaddio Vanucci. A graduate of the South Hills High School in Pittsburg, Mr. Vanucci had been employed in retail for most of his life, retiring as a District Operations Manager with JC Penney after more than thirty years of service. He was a member of Corpus Christ Catholic Church in Chambersburg. Mr. Vanucci served as Secretary for Meals on Wheels of Chambersburg and organized the monthly Penn National Men’s Luncheon. He enjoyed attending breakfast with the guys on Monday mornings at the Flamingo Restaurant, listening to Frank Sinatra, golfing, and playing cards with is card club. Family and friends were a big part of his life and he will be remembered by many for his keen sense of humor. His wife, Maryann Deah Vanucci, whom he married October 25, 1958, preceded him in death on October 24, 2012.

He is survived by two children, Gary C. Vanucci and wife Marjori A. of Mechanicsville, MD, and Diane M. Vanucci of Princeton, NJ; six grandchildren, Nelson, Nathanael, Nicolas, and Noah Vanucci, Juliet Vanucci, and Brittany Van Arsdale; and two great-grandchildren, Bentley Ryan and Isabella Grace Vanucci. He is also survived by a brother, Greg Vanucci and wife June, and a sister, Marie Fenton, all of Pittsburgh. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael S. Vanucci in 2014, and two brothers, Ralph and Bob Vanucci.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM Saturday, February 24, 2018 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Fr. Brian Olkowski will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray, PA.
