Charlotte M. Stumbaugh Ericson of Chambersburg, PA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 26, 2011. Born May 5, 1936 in Somerset, PA, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Gladys Adams Stumbaugh. She was the beloved wife of Robert J. Ericson who was her childhood sweetheart. They were married on November 8, 1952 in the St. Paul United Methodist Church on Queen Street by Rev. Frank Nelson. She was a member of the Chambersburg High School Class of 1955. First employed at Montgomery Wards on South Main Street, she then worked as a waitress, and was later employed by the Chambersburg Area School District carrying children to preschool. She worked at the former Franklin County Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide and as an aide in the therapy department for 15 years. Charlotte then started the former Ericson’s Uniform Shop in Chambersburg which she ran until her husband was diagnosed with lung cancer and she closed the shop to care for him. She was last employed, for a short time, at Shook Home prior to her retirement.

Charlotte enjoyed camping, sailing, and going on picnics with her husband and family at Cowan’s Gap State Park and Raystown Lake. She enjoyed family and friends as they were very special to her as were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert J. Ericson; two sons, Terry L. Ericson and wife Donna of Chambersburg and Randy J. Ericson of Townsend, DE; two grandchildren, Troy and wife Torri Ericson and Hannah Jo Ericson; two step-grandchildren, Tony and Tommy Williams; two great-grandchildren, Colby and Tia Ericson; two sisters, Betty Snyder of Binghamton, NY and Shirley Crist and husband Alex of Wilmington, NC; and her sister-in-law, Meriam Hoover Stumbaugh of Chambersburg. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her oldest son, Robert R. Ericson on October 3, 2004, two brothers, and five sisters.

A memorial service will be held 11:30 AM Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Paul B. Baker and Rev. William Snyder will officiate. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
