Charlotte Straley

Charlotte Louise “Sis” Straley, age 92 of Chambersburg, PA, passed away at her home on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Born in Brownsville, PA on June 24, 1925, she was the last surviving child of the late John Henry and Catherine Ketterman Carey.
Mrs. Straley was a homemaker most of her adult life, however prior to having children, she worked at Victory Park and Knouse Foods. She enjoyed swimming, looking for bargains at yard sales, and baking.
Surviving are two children, John H. Straley, Jr. (wife Daisy) of Lady Lake, FL and Jean Shaffer (husband Terry) of Chambersburg, PA; two grandchildren, Nicole Zimmerman of Marion, PA and Jesse Shaffer (wife Tiranda) of Chambersburg, PA; two great-grandchildren, Tabriean Shaffer and Skyler Zimmerman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John H. Straley, Sr. in 2007, with whom she was married for 60 years; two sisters, Mary Pogue Eshelman and Frances McClure; and seven brothers, Howard, Charles H., George W., Harry E., Joseph, Leroy G., and James F. Carey, Sr.
Private graveside services will be held in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, where Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate.
