Chester Baughman

Chester A. “Pap” Baughman, 79, of Fayetteville, PA, died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Menno Haven where he resided for the past 10 days. Born July 13, 1932 in Fayetteville, he was a son of the late Sargie W., Sr. and Margaret O. Patterson Baughman. Chester served with the US Army during the Korean War. A farmer most of his life, he also worked for 13 years as a school bus driver, driving for Irvin Hartzok and H.E. Cook. He attended Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church. His hobbies included playing the guitar and singing along with gospel hymns.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Sord Baughman, whom he married August 25, 1956; five children, Wanda Baughman-Hunsecker and husband Rod Hunsecker of Fayetteville, Jeff Baughman and wife Kim of Fayetteville, Daniel Baughman and wife Vicki of Chambersburg, Cindy Reasner of Greencastle, and Karen Black and husband Kevin of Chambersburg; as well as eleven grandchildren. He is also survived by five sisters, Edna McKee, Jane Small, Miriam Ryder, Helen Shoop, and Pat Moore and her husband Jim, all of Chambersburg; and a brother, Eugene Baughman of Fayetteville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur and Sargie Baughman, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church. Rev. Garry Culler will officiate. Interment with military honors by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM Monday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Home Care and Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, or Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church, 2509 Black Gap Road, both in Chambersburg, PA 17202.
