Chester R. Yeager, 78, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at York Hospital. Born November 23, 1942 in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late John Russell and Ethel Mae (Kennedy) Yeager.
Always a hard worker, Chester was employed by Servomation as a laborer for 25 years, and then as a maintenance coordinator at Penn National Golf Course for 27 years, before his retirement. He and his wife attended King Street Church in Chambersburg. Chester enjoyed playing golf, watching Nascar, and rooting on the Penn State Nittany Lions football team. He loved doing yardwork, mowing grass, and gardening.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Donna R. (Beam) Yeager, whom he married on November 27, 1966; his daughter, Candy Mattax (husband Steven) of Waynesboro, PA; grandsons Christopher Steven and Zachery Tyler Mattax; and brother John R. Yeager, Jr. (wife Dorothy) of New Franklin, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kayla Nicole Mattax; 2 brothers, Ralph and Richard Yeager, and his in-laws, David S. Beam, Jr., and Elizabeth A. (Mull) Beam.
A graveside service will be held in Parklawns Memorial Gardens on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 2:00 PM, where Rev. Ron Cook will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Chambersburg. A memorial service is being planned for a future date. Memorial contributions may be made in Chester’s name to the King Street Church, 162 E. King Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
