Clair Crouse

December 4, 1946 — January 13, 2016

Clair J. Crouse, 69, of Dry Run, PA, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening, January 13, 2016 in the emergency room at Chambersburg Hospital. Born December 4, 1946 in Dry Run, he was a son of the late Wayne P. Crouse, Sr. and Mabel F. Arnold Crouse. He was a 1966 graduate of the Fannett-Metal High School. Clair served honorably with the US Army in Germany and then in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Early in his life he was employed as a dispatcher for the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Highspire, PA. He then worked at Letterkenny Army Depot for many years retiring in 1998. He was a long-time member of the Fannett-Metal Fire Company where he was active with the fire police. He had also served the community as an EMT. Clair was a member of James McCartney Post 232 American Legion and enjoyed attending sporting events at Fannett-Metal High School. He was of the Methodist Faith.

He is survived by his sister, Shirley A. Holden of Orbisonia; four brothers, Ralph L. Crouse and wife Margaret of Chambersburg, Edward F. Crouse and wife Jane of Chambersburg, Robert C. Crouse and wife Cindy of St. Thomas, and Wayne P. Crouse, Jr. and wife Tina of Dry Run. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Norma Crouse of Honey Grove; a number of nieces and nephews; and his canine companion, Snickers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary F. Shoop; and two brothers, Lyle E. and Larry W. Crouse.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 18, 2016 in the Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, 18875 Main Street, Dry Run, PA. Rev. Vicki Jordan will officiate. Interment with military honors by members of the James McCartney Post 232 American Legion Color Guard will follow at Upper Path Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 PM Sunday and one hour prior to service on Monday at the funeral home.
