Clara Swisher

Clara B. Swisher, 90, of Chambersburg, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Manor Care Health Services in Chambersburg. Born September 29, 1921 in Scotland, PA, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Stella Horn Reath. Clara was employed at the Scotland School for Veteran’s Children until her retirement in 1992. She attended Chambersburg First Church of God and took pleasure in preparing meals for her family. Her beloved husband, Charlie Swisher, whom she married March 4, 1960, preceded her in death on July 19, 2002.

She is survived by three children, Carol Dougal (and husband, Gary) of Chambersburg, PA, Jack Swisher (and wife, Ana) of Chambersburg, and Jill Eurich of Mechanicsburg, PA; eight grandchildren, Dani Best (and husband John), Mike Dougal (and wife, Tammy), Adam Swisher (and wife, Andrea), Alex Swisher, Evan Crider, Grant Swisher, and Cameron and Connor Eurich; four great-grandchildren, Cara and Chris Best and Abigail and Jacob Dougal; and five sisters, Helen Robinson, Alma Collins, Edna Mooney, Ida Shaffer, all of Chambersburg and Nellie Brookens of Sebastian FL. Aside from her parents and husband, Clara was preceded in death by six siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday, October 22, 2011 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Lester Swope will officiate. Interment will follow in Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 Saturday at the funeral home.
