Clarence Brindle

Clarence E. “Brin” Brindle, Jr., 85 of St. Thomas, PA, died at 10:10 AM Friday, October 14, 2011 at ManorCare Health Services where he had been a guest for the past several weeks. Born March 25, 1926 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Clarence E., Sr. and Maude Kuhl Brindle. A 1944 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Clarence served with the Merchant Marines during WWII. He retired from SKF Industries in Shippensburg where he was employed for more than 30 years. Prior to working in Shippensburg he was employed as a driver with E.C. Barnes in St. Thomas. He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Brethren Church and a former member for fifty years of the former United Church of Christ in St. Thomas, where he had served as a Deacon and Elder. His hobbies included hunting and fishing.

Clarence is survived by his loving wife, Helen Crist Brindle, whom he married September 4, 1947; his daughter, Donna R. Straley and husband Ron of Manheim, PA; his son Ronald K. Brindle and wife Anna of Chambersburg; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Barbara.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 17, 2011 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Howard K. Beaver will officiate. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 AM Monday at the funeral home.
