Clarence Giffin

Clarence M. “Giff” Giffin, Jr., 95, of Fayetteville, passed away on Saturday morning, April 2, 2022 at his home. Born March 24, 1927 in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of the late Clarence M. Giffin, Sr. and Mary Ellen Wood Giffin.

A US Navy veteran, Giff served honorably during World War II. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Western Reserve College in 1951 and began his career at Sherwin Williams Paint International later the same year. Giff retired as Vice President of Sherwin Williams in 1979. He was a member of the USGA and the VFW Post 1599 in Chambersburg. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, playing poker, and having breakfast with his friends. An avid reader, Giff loved history and biographies. He was also an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Giffin, whom he married on October 27, 2001; three sons, David Giffin and wife Soledad of Chile, Douglas Giffin and wife Kim of NC, and James Giffin and wife Sandi of OH; three step-children, Sherry Kistuline and husband Len of MI, Don Tencati, Jr. and wife Carol of CA, and Donna Molyneux and husband Glenn of MS; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Aside from his parents, Giff was preceded in death by his first wife, Julia Ann Gentholtz Giffin.

A memorial service to honor Giff’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 8, 2022 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. A. Robert Cook will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road West, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to SpiriTrust Lutheran Homecare and Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
