Clarence E. “Cub” Gipe, 83, a resident at the Shook Home and formerly of 120 Eisenhower Drive, Chambersburg, PA died Sunday morning, August 21, 2011 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born June 17, 1928 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Clarence S. and Nancy B. Jones Gipe. Cub retired from T.B. Woods Sons, Inc. He was an active member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time with his family and working outdoors at his home.
He is survived by his wife, Jean M. Harrison Gipe whom he married October 23, 1946; two sons, Jeffrey L. Gipe and wife Geraldine of Fayetteville and Jerry E. Gipe and wife Linda of Chambersburg; four grandchildren, Mandy Heckman and husband Mickey, Shelby Stevens and husband Stewart, Jenifer Swartzburg and husband Greg, and Brian Gipe; and eight great-grandchildren, Cota and Tucker Heckman, Brooke and Hunter Stevens, Aden and Garrett Swartzburg, and Breanna and Cady Gipe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Verna Haas, and a brother, Robert Gipe.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Park Avenue United Methodist Church, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Suzanne Elliott will officiate. Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
