Clarence Monn

Clarence Monn, 94, of Chambersburg, PA, died Thursday afternoon, October 24, 2013 at ManorCare Health Services. Born September 25, 1919 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late William and Nora Short Monn. A US Army veteran, he had been employed at Knouse Foods and T.B. Woods and Sons, Inc. in Chambersburg. Clarence served six years as Union Steward at T.B. Woods, retiring in 1982. His wife, Pauline E. Gibbons Monn, preceded him in death.

Mr. Monn is survived by eight children, Helen T. Tice of Chambersburg, Paulette R. Conner and husband Butch of Chambersburg, Linda S. Rensch and husband George of Fayetteville, Patricia A. Hockenberry and husband Robert of Newburg, Theodore G. Monn of Mercersburg, Jennifer L. Newcomer of Williamsport, Judy R. Hawbaker and husband Bobby of Mercersburg, and Cindy M. Shoemaker and husband Roy of Lurgan; 35 grandchildren; and 58 great-grandchildren. The last of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey L. Monn and Michael C. Monn; two grandsons, Michael S. and Matthew L. Emory; six brothers, Alfred, George, Chet, Kenny, Dave, and Robert; three sisters, Helen, Katherine, and Elizabeth.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Paul B. Baker officiating. Interment with military honors by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 AM Monday at the funeral home.
