Claudia Smith Williams

October 22, 1943 — November 2, 2020

Claudia Wehn Smith Williams, age 77, formerly of Huntingdon, PA and a current resident of Fayetteville, PA, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at her home on Monday, November 2, 2020. Born October 22, 1943, in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Anna Griffith Smith.
A 1961 graduate of the Huntingdon Area High School, Claudia went on to work as a homemaker, caring for her family most of her adult life. For 32 years, she was the “Mayor of the Mountain” and “Queen of her Castle”, Claudia was definitely one of a kind. She was a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, where she volunteered countless hours. Claudia was an accomplished artist who enjoyed acrylics and water colors. She was also fond of cooking, knitting, gardening, and going to the beach; however, her most cherished time was caring for her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Heather M. Williams of Lancaster, PA and Tracey A. Gottshall (husband Scott) of Duncansville, PA; six grandchildren, Alex M. Barley of Wilmington, NC, Nicholas R. Barley of Washington, D.C., and Mariah L. Barley of Washington, D.C. and Emily R. Gottshall of Salisbury, MD, Andrew W. Gottshall and Erica H. Gottshall of Duncansville, PA; a sister, Barbara Impollonia of Smyrna, DE; sister in law, Beth Williams of Ft. Myers Beach, FL; brother in law, John Williams (wife Jody) of Coalstrip, MT; and her beloved companion, Bandit. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” C. Williams in 2011 and two brothers and two sisters. Claudia wishes to extend to her neighbors a debt of gratitude for their care and companionship over the years.
It was Claudia’s wish that all services and interment be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to SpiriTrust Lutheran Hospice, 2700 Luther Dr., Chambersburg, PA 17202. Online condolences may be offered on her Book of Memories page at www.geiselfuneralhome.com.
