Clayton Flack

April 18, 1940 — August 5, 2020

Clayton B. Flack, loving husband and amazing father, entered Heaven on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at the age of 80, to be in the presence of Jesus and to be reunited with his dearly departed family and friends. He was born in Poultney, Vermont on April 18, 1940 to the late Frank Edwin Flack and Bertha Shepard Flack.

During his teenage years, he worked full time for Word of Life Camps in Schroon Lake, New York. He then served honorably in the Marine Corps from September 1958 to September 1962 overseas in Morocco and Africa in the military police.

Clayton married Charlotte L. Ashman at the King’s College in Briarcliff Manor, New York on July 27, 1963. They lived in Pleasantville, New York where their two children, Sarah and Daniel, were born and they also adopted two brothers, Ricky and David. The family moved to Pennsylvania in 1989 and has resided here since. He is the proud grandfather of five grandchildren: Josh Travis and wife Dawn, Shawna Foor, Ellianna Vazquez, Liam Flack, and Adyson Flack, all of Chambersburg.

Clayton attended Westchester Community College, was a supervisor at Homelite Chainsaws, and was a Certified Technician at a Volvo dealership. Then he spent fifteen years in full time service with the New York Army National Guard of Engineers as a Staff Sergeant. Unfortunately, he was injured in the line of duty and became permanently disabled. Clayton enjoyed woodworking, yard sales, making jewelry, spending time with his family, and being a member of his church. In addition, he ministered to over 50 foster children.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte L. (Ashman), daughter Sarah F. Reeves, son Daniel P. and wife Jessica, all of Chambersburg, son Ricky of Florida, son David of New York, sister Betty Dolback and husband Bud of Crown Point, New York, brother David Flack and wife Hazel, brothers Edwin Flack, Scott Flack, and Norman Flack all of Ticonderoga, New York, and brother-on-law Weston Ashman and wife Lydia and family of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ernest, Leon, and Robert Flack.

Funeral services will be held at The Open Door Church, 600 Miller Street, Chambersburg, PA at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 10, 2020 with Pastors Mike Sanders, Carl McKee, and Darrell Gentry. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM on Monday at the church. Following the service, the family will have a private burial at Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Cumberland Valley Christian School, 600 Miller Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
