Clyde H. Kimple, 93, of Shippensburg, PA and formerly of Fayetteville, PA passed away Monday, November 20, 2023 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born October 21, 1930 in Gettysburg, PA he was the son of the late Bernard and Anna (Clapsadl) Kimple.
He was employed as a tool and die maker for Chambersburg Engineering Company. In his younger years he played softball and volleyball with Chambersburg Engineering Company teams. He was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Orrtanna, PA and the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, Chambersburg. Clyde enjoyed hunting and spending time at their hunting camp in Potter County, PA. He also enjoyed attending sporting events of his grandchildren. Clyde was also an avid reader, and loved American History. He was known over the years to 'borrow' his children's history books when they brought them home from school.
He is survived by eight children, Eddie Kimple (Sheila), Barb McCoy (Scott), Mike Kimple, Joni Weaverling, Peggy Hege (Tim), Patti Bumbaugh, Theresa Stanionis, and Jeromy Kimple; a sister, Mary Jane Banks of Virginia; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” (Brown) Kimple who passed away April 23, 2013; a son, Clyde “Clydie” Kimple; three brothers, Jack, Donald, and Joseph Kimple; daughter-in-law, Cindy Kimple; and two son-in-laws, Carl Weaverling and Chris Bumbaugh.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road W., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
