Clyde Lehman

January 27, 1923 — August 11, 2013

Clyde H. Lehman, age 90, of Chambersburg, PA died Sunday, August 11, 2013 at his home. Born January 27, 1923 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Daniel and Mary Horst Lehman. He attended the former Portico School.

Mr. Lehman was a farmer his entire life. He was a charter member and building trustee of the present Strasburg Mennonite Church and on the original board of Menno Haven. He was very passionate about the history surrounding the coming of Letterkenny Army Depot.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Naomi Burkholder Lehman, whom he married on November 23, 1944; twelve children, Daniel Lehman and wife Eunice, Clair Lehman and wife Eunice, Bertha Ocker and husband Merle, Norma Lehman, Harry Lehman and wife Kathy, Ellen Rife and husband Harold, Rhoda Lehman, all of Chambersburg, Melvin Lehman and wife Shelia of Guys Mills, PA, Lee Lehman and wife Margaret and Clyde Lehman and wife Brenda, all of Chambersburg, Miriam Strite and husband Carl of Broadway, VA, and Naomi Risser and husband Dennis of Lebanon, PA; 61 grandchildren; 145 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Janet Martin of St. Thomas, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary; three sisters, Grace Wadel, Martha Kuhns, and Marian Funk; two grandchildren, Dale Ocker and Patrick Lehman; four great-grandchildren, Rosalie Willis, Cameron Willis, Hosanna Lehman, and Doreen Horst; and a grandson-in-law, Devon Landis.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Chambersburg Mennonite Church, 1800 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA with Ministers Allen Fleagle, Nathan Wadel, Melvin Lehman, and Marvin Musser officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
