Clyde A. Scott, 91, of Chambersburg, PA, passed on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 25, 1933, in Todd, PA, he was a son of the late Peter Furman Scott and Anna Katherine Alexander Scott.
A US Army veteran, Clyde served honorably during the Korean War. He was previously employed with Masonic Homes, General Motors, Asbestas in Manheim, PA, the Huntingdon Shoe Factory, and Letterkenny Army Depot for 20 years until his retirement. During his retirement, Clyde was employed with Chambersburg Transit and most recently he was a driver for Fisher’s Auto Parts. He was an active member of Salem United Brethren Church, the American Legion Post 48, and the Marine Corps League, all in Chambersburg. Clyde’s hobbies included woodworking (making things for his wife, children, and grandchildren), working on cars, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nancy L. Stevens Scott, whom he married on May 28, 1982; four children, Sharon Funk (husband Rick) of Mt. Joy, Clyde A. Scott, Jr. (wife Krista) of Burnt Cabins, Kerry D. Helfrick of Chambersburg and Kenneth D. Helfrick of Chambersburg; eleven grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. Aside from his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph W. Scott, Harold C. Scott, William M. Scott, and Ivan Scott; two sisters, Joyce S. Jones, and one in infancy; and his daughter, Sonja J. Kenderdine.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Salem United Brethren Church, 4349 Letterkenny Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Pastor Chris Moore will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM on Monday at Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Brethren Church at www.salemub.org.
